In Unity, as in Division, the fourth exhibition presented by Johnson Lowe Gallery in its inaugural year, unites seven emerging artists from within the Atlanta Metropolitan Area to present seven micro-exhibitions throughout the gallery’s 7,000 square foot space. On view from October 6 to December 2, 2023, the exhibition includes the work of Demetri Burke, Danielle Deadwyler, Leia Genis, Wihro Kim, Masela Nkolo, Sergio Suárez, and Ellex Swavoni.
Rather than dictating a singular exhibition concept or an overall collective theme, Johnson Lowe Gallery dedicated several months to closely collaborating with each individual artist, exploring and developing current conceptual, philosophical, and creative ideas within their practices. As such, In Unity, as in Division offers a glimpse into the microcosm of Atlanta's artistic landscape, honoring the unique talents of each artist whilst emphasizing the significance of cultivating collaborative and communal relationships within artistic spheres.
